Arya REACTS to his chopped role from Suriya's 'Karuppu'; 'If cutting my scenes makes the film better, that's what matters'

Actor Arya has spoken publicly for the first time about his deleted scenes from 'Karuppu', the fantasy-action drama starring Suriya. Although the actor was expected to appear in the film through a special role, audiences did not get to see him in either the theatrical version or the OTT release.

The actor addressed the matter during the promotional events of his upcoming film 'Ananthan Kaadu'.

Friendship with RJ Balaji led to the cameo

According to reports in Telugu123, Arya agreed to appear in the film because of his close friendship with director RJ Balaji. The actor revealed that he never questioned the length of the role or sought details about its importance in the story. Instead, he chose to be part of the project purely because of his relationship with the filmmaker.Speaking about the experience, Arya said, “RJ Balaji asked me to do a cameo in the film. Since we’re good friends, I immediately agreed. I didn’t ask how big the role was or anything. I just did it for him. Later, they informed me that the scenes had been removed during editing, and that’s completely fine with me. If cutting my scenes makes the film better, that’s what matters. I never did it for screen time or recognition.

We will work together again on another project.”

Actor supports the editing decision

Arya made it clear that he holds no disappointment regarding the removal of his scenes. The actor emphasized that the overall quality of the film should always take priority over an individual's screen presence.Although Arya's role was removed from the final version of 'Karuppu', reports suggest that the footage may not remain unseen forever. There is speculation that the deleted scenes could eventually be released separately through digital platforms.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding such plans.Arya is currently concentrating on the release of 'Ananthan Kaadu'. The film has attracted attention because it marks a new milestone in his career. Scheduled to release on June 25, 2026, the bilingual venture will be released in both Tamil and Malayalam. Meanwhile, 'Karuppu' continues to enjoy strong popularity after its successful theatrical run. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film stars Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles. Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in multiple languages, the film follows a father seeking justice after money meant for his daughter's life-saving treatment is stolen.
