 When is Gupt Navratri? Know Date and Significance

Navratri means nine days and nine nights dedicated to worship Maa Durga and these days are considered as the most sacred days in Hinduism. During these nine days devotees worship nine forms of Maa Durga.

They perform various puja rituals to appease Goddess Durga and seek blessings. Navratri occurs four times during a year - Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri are the two main Navratri days and Navratri that occurs during Magha and Ashadha month, known as Gupt Navratri. Similarly, this time Ashadha Navratri is going to start from Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha i.e., on June 26, 2025.

Ashadha Gupt Navratri 2025: Significance

Navratri is regarded as the most sacred when you can worship Maa Durga day and night.

During the period of Navratri, Maa Durga is worshipped for nine days and nine nights. Devotees pray to Durga Mata and seek for the Goddess' blessings during these days. Gupt Navratri falls twice a year during Magha and Ashadha Month, but Navratri happens four times a year. Nine manifestations of Mahavidhya are worshipped during Gupt Navratri.

Although Gupt Navratri is not very well-known, it is the most potent time of year for those individuals, who want and practice Mantra and Tantra Sadhana and this time period is considered as an extremely powerful period to invoke Goddess Durga.

They follow and perform various puja rituals such as performing hawan, observing fast and abstain from food and water for nine long days in order to please the Goddess.


Ashadha Gupt Navratri 2025: Puja Rituals

Wake up early in the morning and clean your home especially your puja room. Take bath after cleaning is done, then take a wooden plank and place an idol of Goddess Durga there. Adorn the Goddess with shringar items such as chunni, sindoor, bangles, haldi, mehendi etc.

Take a kalash, fill it with water and place a coconut on that and do Ghatsthapna by chanting various vedic mantras. Light a diya with desi cow ghee, light incense sticks, offer hibiscus flower garland, fruits and sweets.

Devotees must recite Durga Saptashati Paath to appease Maa Durga and if they are unable to do so then they must recite Kavach Argala Keelak for protection and chant different mantras dedicated to the Goddess 108 times. In the evening, devotees can break their fast after performing aarti to Maa Durga.
