This has been the second such incident in Madhya Pradesh recently.
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia was suspended after a video went viral on Monday showing him dancing “provocatively” with two women at a constable’s birthday party.
Sanjeev Gaud, posted as ASI in the Civil Lines police station in Datia district headquarters, was seen dancing to Bollywood songs with the “bar dancers” at a party thrown in a hotel in the city on September 2 for the birthday of constable Rahul Boudh.
Datia Superintendent of Police Suraj Verma ordered the suspension of the ASI and the constable after the video was widely shared on social media.
“Any activity (by any policeman) that tarnishes the image of the police department will not be tolerated. Further action will be taken in the matter after investigation,” Verma said.
This has been the second such incident in Madhya Pradesh recently. In the previous incident, another ASI, who was posted at Bhaunti police station in Shivpuri district, was suspended after a video showing him dancing with an alleged gangster went viral. The video showed both of them dancing to a song referencing an undertrial escaping from prison.
Shivpuri Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore took immediate action in the matter by placing ASI Jitendra Jat under suspension.
