Asrani's manager reveals actor's final moments; shares he was hospitalised due to 'breathing issues', was laid to rest in private ceremony

Veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, best known as 'Asrani', passed away on Monday, October 20. He was 84. News of his demise broke late Monday evening, sparking a wave of shock among fans and netizens alike, considering that his Diwali greeting was shared on his handle this afternoon.

Speaking to ETimes, Asrani's manager, Mr. Thiba confirmed the shocking news and revealed details of the veteran star's final moments. He also informed us that the actor was laid to rest in a private ceremony, surrounded by his family. According to Mr. Thiba, the actor had been unwell for the past 15 days. “He was not feeling well and was admitted to Arogya Hospital four days ago due to breathing issues,” he shared.He went on to add, "He passed away at around 3 PM today.

His last rites were performed at 8 PM today."“The family is back home now… very sad,” Mr. Thiba added.

Asrani, beloved for his iconic roles in films like 'Sholay', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', and 'Welcome', among many other films, had tributed pouring in from fans following his work over the decades. Several took to social media to mourn his loss while others fondly rememberd his impeccable comic timing.
