Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived in Sivasagar district on Thursday as part of his official programme. He conducted a comprehensive review of various govt schemes and met with senior district administration officials.The governor was accorded a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the Circuit House, where he was presented with a guard of honour in the presence of key district officials, including district commissioner Aayush Garg and senior superintendent of police Subhrajyoti Borah.During his visit, the governor held detailed discussions with the district administration team, focusing on the implementation and progress of various central and state govt schemes currently operational in Sivasagar district.The meeting covered a wide range of developmental initiatives, from rural development programmes to education and healthcare schemes. Officials briefed the governor on the current status of flagship programmes and sought his guidance on addressing implementation challenges.Governor Acharya emphasised the importance of timely and efficient implementation of govt schemes, particularly those aimed at improving the lives of rural communities and marginalised sections of society.

He stressed the need for regular monitoring and evaluation of programmes to ensure their effectiveness. The visit concluded with the governor assuring continued support for the district’s developmental initiative.“The Governor’s visit provided us with an excellent opportunity to showcase our district’s achievements and discuss the challenges we face in implementing govt programmes. The governor provided us valuable guidance in ensuring better service delivery to our citizens.

We have taken note of his suggestions to further streamline our efforts in achieving 100% saturation of welfare schemes in the district,” a senior district official said.The visit was part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to maintain direct contact with district administrations across Assam and assess ground-level implementation of govt policies. Such visits enable constitutional heads to gain firsthand insights into administrative functioning and public service delivery mechanisms.
