Assam Police arrested a teacher named Shah Alam Sarkar for his alleged links with the Jamat-e-Islami of Bangladesh. The arrest has raised concerns in Dhubri district, where the administration is on alert after observing the increasing activities of the banned outfit.

Sarkar, a teacher at Lakhimari Madhya English School located on the India-Bangladesh border, was caught following a police operation at Lakhimari. Police said Sarkar had been issuing letters in the name of Jamat-e-Islami across the international border region.

According to officials, the case came to light two days ago when Ali Hussain, who was in contact with Sarkar, confessed to the police. Investigators then traced the letters back to Sarkar, leading to his arrest.

The police have also initiated an inquiry into the role of Lakhimari Madhya English School in connection with the case.
