Aizawl: Assam Rifles personnel recovered a massive cache of explosives from Vaphai village in Mizoram’s Champhai district in the early hours of Saturday.Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the transportation of the consignment.According to a press release issued by Assam Rifles on Sunday, based on specific intelligence inputs about the movement of a large quantity of war-like stores, the troops intercepted a vehicle and signalled it to stop. However, the occupants of the car fled, but were caught after a brief pursuit.A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 5,800 gelignite rods, 10,500 metres of Cordtex and 6,000 detonators.The accused, identified as Lalrinsanga and Vanlalliana, are residents of Farkawn village and were handed over to Dungtlang police station, along with the seized explosives, for further investigation.
