Assembly Election 2026 Live: With only a few days left for the first phase of voting in West Bengal and the single-phase polling in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming Assembly elections, the political atmosphere has intensified significantly.

Parties and leaders are making a final push to win over voters at this crucial juncture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed election rally in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore on Saturday and said that the Congress and its ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), “derailed” the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament because of their “hatred and petty politics”.

He accused the ruling DMK of harming women in the state by enabling violence and not supporting them by backing the legislation.

Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23, while elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases, on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes for all states is scheduled for May 4.
