At its first assembly held here Monday, the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) endorsed Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav as President of the coalition of 95 countries created for conservation for the seven big cats.
The assembly, IBCA’s apex body, also endorsed former IFS SP Yadav as IBCA’s director general, a statement said.
The assembly saw delegations from Bhutan, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Suriname, Somalia, Republic of Guinea, Eswatini and India ratifying decisions taken by the IBCA. The ratification of the headquarter agreement signed by IBCA with India enabled the body to establish its headquarters and other offices in the host country.
The minister held meetings with delegations from Liberia, Somalia, Cambodia, Eswatini and Guinea. India also agreed to work closely with Kazakhstan on snow leopard breeding.
