Atlee shares emotional speech after receiving honorary doctorate from the University he studied at; Allu Arjun and Priya Atlee beam with joy

Kollywood’s celebrated filmmaker Atlee has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai. Atlee’s wife, Priya Atlee, took to her Instagram stories to share the memorable moment and express her appreciation for him.Check out the post here:

The special recognition was conferred during the university’s 34th convocation ceremony held on June 14. The event turned emotional and nostalgic as the director, who once walked the same campus as a student, returned to receive the institution’s highest honour. The doctorate was awarded by the university’s Chancellor, Dr Mariazeena Johnson, in the presence of Atlee’s wife, Priya, and his parents.

Atlee about receiving the honorary doctorate Atlee expressed his joy during his speech: “It’s surreal to be honoured by the same university where I once walked in as a student with big dreams. It was here that I learned the power of belief,” he shared.The director also conveyed his gratitude to his family: “My parents stood by me until I became a filmmaker. But the one who shaped who I am is my wife, Priya Atlee. And the person who’s made me a better human being is my son,” he said.

Actor Allu Arjun swiftly re-shared the news and congratulated Atlee:“Big congratulations to @Atlee_dir garu on receiving the honorary doctorate. Really happy to see your passion and craft being celebrated at this level.
