 Mumbai police arrest four interstate accused from Punjab in Rs 3 lakh heist

The Nehru Nagar police have cracked a sophisticated ATM theft case and arrested four accused from Bathinda, Punjab, who allegedly looted Rs 3.07 lakh from an Bank ATM in Nehru Nagar early this month.

What has baffled the police is that the accused had used a spy camera to obtain the pattern code of the ATM’s inner cash box and made off with the cash.The four arrested accused have been identified as Jasvir Singh Sukhdev Singh (29), Lehra Bega Road, Bucho Mandi, Lakhvir Singh Baldev Singh (31),Gurpreet Singh Karnail Singh (27), Verma Basti and Rachpal Singh Baldev Singh (37). Police said all hail from North India. Police have recovered a Skoda car worth Rs 3 lakhs, cash of Rs 20,000, three mobile phones, a spy camera, Wi-Fi dongle, SIM cards, a memory card reader, an OTG device, and forged ATM keys.According to police, the theft took place on June 7, 2025, between 6:23 AM and 6:28 AM, when four unidentified men entered the ATM kiosk and opened the machine using fake access tools and technical knowledge.Based on a complaint from the bank, a case was registered at Nehrunagar Police Station and a parallel FIR was also lodged at Ghatkopar Police Station for related offences said deputy commissioner of police (Zone 6) Sameer Shaikh.

The investigation is being led by Investigating Officer Shivaji Pavade.Senior officers praised the swift and coordinated police action. Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti, Joint CP Dr. Narayan Chaudhary, and Additional CP Mahesh Patil commended the teams for their technical precision and timely arrests.The accused are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to determine if they were involved in other ATM thefts across the country.
