Audi runs over 5 sleeping on footpath in Delhi; 8-year-old among injured; driver held

NEW DELHI: At least five people sleeping on a footpath near the Indian Oil petrol pump, opposite Shiva Camp in Vasant Vihar, were run over by an Audi on the intervening night of July 8 and 9, police said on Sunday.The victims have been identified as Ladhi (40), Bimla (8), Sabami (45), Narayani (35), and Ramchander (45). All were rushed to the hospital after police received a PCR call and a team from Vasant Vihar police station reached the spot.The driver of the car, Utsav Shekhar (40), a resident of Dwarka, has been apprehended and legal action has been initiated, Delhi Police said.
