A maternal aunt of Vipanchika M. who along with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter was found hanging at their residence in Sharjah recently, approached the Kerala High Court seeking a fair and comprehensive probe into their deaths, including on whether they were murdered or it was a case of abetment to suicide.
She sought a direction to the Centre to engage diplomatically with the authorities concerned in the UAE for the probe and alleged that Vipanchika had been subjected to constant mental harassment, emotional abuse, and threats by her husband and his family members. She used to even make distress phone calls to her mother, detailing these incidents and also sent photos showing the physical abuse that she endured, her aunt said and sought details of the post-mortem report and prompt repatriation of the mortal remains.
Based on this, the court issued instructions to implead Vipanchika’s husband Nitheesh Mohan in the case. The matter has been posted for hearing on Thursday.
