Auto driver gets lifer in POCSO case

A 21-year-old auto driver was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Fast Track Special Court for Expeditious Trial and Disposal of Rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act cases in Rangareddy district on Wednesday.

The court also slapped a fine of ₹25,000 on the accused, while the victim was awarded compensation of ₹10 lakh.

The accused, Amboth Ramesh alias Laddu, a resident of Shivamma Nagar in LB Nagar, and a native of Amboth village in Manchal, was convicted in a rape and child sexual abuse case registered in LB Nagar police station 2020.

The court found Ramesh guilty under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act, including charges of gangrape, kidnapping, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint and aggravated sexual assault.
