The Avalahalli police will move the High Court against singer Sonu Nigam after he failed to respond to three notices calling him for an inquiry for a case registered against him related to alleged controversial remarks during a concert in May this year.
The police will seek High Court directions through the Advocate General on whether the interim protection granted to Mr. Nigam should be vacated.
The Avalahalli police have registered an FIR against Sonu Nigam, charging him under criminal intimidation, intentional insult and public mischief, disturbing public order and hurting the sentiments , after he allegedly passed a remark against a fan during a music concert held in Avalahalli .
Mr. Nigam approached the High Court seeking respite against the case and got court directions to the police that he should not be arrested. The court also directed Mr. Nigam to cooperate with the investigations.
However, the police said as part of the investigation, they issued notices to him to appear before the investigating officer for questioning and record his statement for further investigations, but despite issuing three notices, he failed to appear, which is a violation of the conditions .
