Avoid diverting trains, Tiruvarur traders urge railways

The Tiruvarur Vijayapuram Traders’ Association has urged the Southern Railway to ensure that train services operated through Tiruvarur Junction were not diverted for any reason in future.

A resolution in this regard was passed at a meeting held here recently where the association claimed that it had received information that some of the existing train services passing through Tiruvarur Junction were operated on a ‘diverted route’ soon.

Opposing the contemplation of ‘diversion of trains through the new route’, the association demanded setting up rake maintenance yard at Tiruvarur and operation of new train services from Tiruvarur or through Tiruvarur.

It was decided to submit a memorandum along with the Tiruvarur District Railway Passengers’ Welfare Association and like-minded political parties, to the Southern Railway Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, in support of the demands put forth at the meeting, according to an official release.
