Aziz Ansari on having a flip phone, no email ID, and more - ‘I have a landline. I love the landline!’

Aziz Ansari, known for his roles on ‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘Being Mortal’, and ‘Master of None’, has recently opened up about the kind of love-hate relationship he has with today’s technology.

Aziz Ansari reveals he still uses a flip phone

Ansari will next appear in ‘Good Fortune’ along with Keanu Reeves, a low-level angel who has been tasked with helping humans stop texting while driving. Although he knows his job, he wants more from his life. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6.

One day later, the actor sat down for an interview with People in order to talk about his life of constant digital detox.He reveals that he no longer uses a smartphone and has even stopped using an email ID as well. He adds, “I block pretty much every website from my computer. I don't have an email address… I have a landline. I love the landline!” When asked about how long he had been away from such things, Ansari revealed that he had lost track of time and that it had been more than 10 years since he last used his email.

He shared that this has helped him focus more on his work and career. “For me, it helps me keep a clear head to help me write and do what's more important for my job”, he adds, while also sharing that he has the privilege to leave his social media accounts and other platforms solely up to his assistants. This is not the first time that the actor has talked about his life away from high-tech items. In an interview in 2022 at the ‘Comedy Gold Minds With Kevin Hart’, the actor had first revealed his flip phone and his innate desire to keep away from email IDs and other technology.While talking about a ‘healthy diet’ at the time, the actor has shared that, “Everyone thinks about their diet and what they eat [and] at a certain point, it’s also about thinking about your mental diet and what you’re putting in your head”.
