MUMBAI: Bandra police took into custody two people for allegedly attacking a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) supervisor when he went to check a complaint about an unauthorised tin shed said to have been put up on the terrace of a house in the Chibard Jetty area.
The supervisor dialled the police helpline after the pair abused and assaulted him.Police filed a case against the two persons, Mohammed Nadeem Mohammed Ayaz Sayyed, 42, an electrician, and Mohammed Ayaz Abdul Rehman Sayyed, 68, a rickshaw driver, both residents of Chandrama House in Chimbai, Bandra West, for allegedly assaulting and issuing threats to a BMC staff member while he was examining a suspected unauthorised structure in Bandra West on Friday.As per the FIR, the complainant, Anil Rathod, 45, works with the BMC and is posted at the H-West Ward. A junior engineer instructed him to look into a complaint about an allegedly unauthorised shed on the terrace of a building at Chimbai in Bandra West.Rathod said he reached the location at about 11. 30am on Friday and saw a shed built using iron angles and cement sheets on the terrace of the Chandrama House building. While he was taking photographs of the structure in the course of his official work, two men came up to him and claimed they were the owners of the premises.
The civic employee told them a complaint had been received about the alleged unauthorised construction and asked them to produce the necessary papers at the civic office. The two men reportedly got into an argument, abused him, grabbed him by the neck, struck him on the face, and warned him of consequences.After this, Rathod contacted the police control room and the accused were later taken to the police station and were booked under the BNS sections.
