TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the State government led by Congress had conducted the caste survey in line with Rahul Gandhi’s slogan, “Rights proportionate to population.” He recalled that Lambadas had been included in the list of Scheduled Tribes (ST) by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The Telangana Banjara Bharati on Sunday organised golden jubilee celebrations at the statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Necklace Road, Khairatabad, commemorating the completion of 50 years since the inclusion of Lambadas in the ST category.

Speaking on the occasion, the Congress MLC praised Indira Gandhi as the ‘Iron Lady’ who brought revolutionary decisions to the country. He highlighted her contributions, including distributing land to the poor through the Land Ceiling Act and including Lambadas in the Scheduled Tribes.

He emphasised that all communities have a proper place in the Congress and condemned the misuse of social media by opposition parties to spread lies through morphing. He urged people not to believe false propaganda.

Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, Deputy Speaker Ramachandra Naik, former MP Ravinder Naik and Banjara Bharati presidents Jagan and Lakshminarayana were among the dignitaries who participated in the programme.
