Banka woman killed, buried in sand by husband, second wife over domestic dispute

Patna: The body of a 34-year-old woman was found buried in sand near a riverbank at Amjora village under Anandpur police station area of Banka district on Thursday. She was allegedly murdered by her husband and his second wife following a dispute over preparing dinner on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Savitri Devi.According to police, the argument allegedly escalated, resulting in Savitri being killed by her husband, Shivcharan Das (40), and his second wife Pooja Devi (30). After the incident, they buried her body near Satti Ghat along the Bardhua river during the night. The second wife has been arrested, while the husband remains at large.Upon receiving information about the incident, Anandpur SHO Vipin Kumar arrived at the spot with the police force, and sent the body to Banka sadar hospital for a postmortem.Anandpur SHO said: “Savitri and Shivcharan had been married for 15 years and everything was fine for the first decade, during which they had a son who is now 14. However, in 2020, Shivcharan met Pooja while working at a construction site. Their relationship deepened, and they got married the same year. Afterward, Shivcharan began living with both Savitri and Pooja under the same roof. Savitri strongly opposed the second marriage, which led to frequent conflicts and eventually, Shivcharan began abusing and assaulting her.

The SHO further said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was strangled, as evident from the marks found on her neck. Further probe is underway and raids are being conducted to nab him.”To support herself and care for her son, Savitri was working as a construction worker. Her 14-year-old son had left for Gujarat to work about four months ago.
