The Prohibition and Excise Department will conduct a lottery on 13 June to select beneficiaries for 28 bar licences, including 24 under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and four in rural districts.

According to officials, a total of 3,520 applications have been received for the GHMC-area bars, while 148 applications have come in for bars in rural locations. Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Harikiran has issued a notification for the revival of closed bars across these regions, with the selection process to be carried out through a random draw.

For the GHMC bars, the lottery will be conducted at The Address Conventions and Exhibition centre in Narsingi, Gandipet. Applicants have been asked to arrive by 9 am, carrying both their entry passes and valid identification. Mobile phones will not be permitted inside the venue, and entry will be regulated based on token numbers issued to the applicants.

Officials stated that applicants have already been informed via email and WhatsApp about the draw procedure and required documents.

In the rural districts, similar lotteries will be conducted under the supervision of district collectors.
