Barcelona's Pedri Ruled Out Indefinitely With Hamstring Tear; Injury Woes Mount After El Clasico

Barcelona just can’t seem to catch a break this season, and now, neither can Pedri.

The 21-year-old midfielder, one of Barça’s most reliable engines, has picked up yet another injury, this time a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle of his left thigh, the club confirmed after El Clásico.

It’s the latest blow in what’s starting to feel like a never-ending injury crisis for Hansi Flick’s squad.

“Pedri has suffered a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh," the official club statement read. “The player’s recovery will dictate his return to action."

In plain terms, that means: no one knows exactly when he’ll be back.

Early reports from AS journalist Javi Miguel say it could be around three weeks: a tough spell for a player who’s barely missed a game this season.

Before the injury, Pedri had featured in 72 of 73 possible matches under Flick, starting all 13 this season and scoring twice.

He’s been central to everything Barça do, so losing him again couldn’t come at a worse time.

Adding to the frustration? Pedri was already suspended for the upcoming match against Elche after a late red card in El Clásico.

Now, he’ll also miss the Champions League clash with Club Brugge and the La Liga trip to Celta Vigo.

The silver lining, though, is the international break. It’ll give Pedri some breathing room, and he’s expected to skip Spain duty to focus on recovery.

The target? A return on November 22 when Barça face Athletic Club.
