BAREILLY: UP Police in Bareilly have recovered 280 lost mobile phones worth around Rs 45 lakh and handed them over to their rightful owners, said police. The handover took place at the Reserve Police Lines auditorium, where SP (South) Anshika Verma distributed the recovered devices to the citizens.Verma told TOI, "The recovery was made through coordinated efforts of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the surveillance cell, and computer operators posted at various police stations. Each case was tracked digitally, leading to the tracing of the missing phones across different parts of the district and nearby regions."Notably, the SSP Bareilly awarded nine police personnel for their role in the operation, presenting them with appreciation certificates and a cash reward.
Among the stations reporting the highest recoveries were Prem Nagar (21), Izzatnagar (19), Baradari (19), Subhash Nagar (18), and Baheri (18).“Bareilly Police will continue such drives to ensure that every lost phone reaches its owner through systematic tracking,” SP South Anshika Verma said.According to police records, a total of 2,376 mobile phones worth nearly Rs 4.65 crore have been recovered and returned to owners in Bareilly district so far in 2025.
