Nicolas Jackson has taunted Chelsea FC over his season-long move to Bayern Munich, saying he's now at a club where he's 'really wanted'.

Nicolas Jackson, the Chelsea striker on a year-long loan at Bayern Munich, said he’s delighted with his move as he’s now in a place where he’s ‘really wanted’ and ‘loved’. At his official unveiling in Munich on Friday, the 24-year-old forward mentioned ‘tough times’, referring to his deal being jeopardized on deadline day when he was already in Germany.
At Chelsea since 2023, the Senegal striker fell down the pecking order after the summer arrivals of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. An injury to Delap during a match made Chelsea recall Jackson, with the news breaking at the same time the striker was getting photos clicked, hugging Bayern officials.
Jackson’s agent put up statements on social media saying they won’t return to London. Bayern initially seemed open to sending him back, but then agreed to a deal for a surreal 16.5 million euros (Rs. 170 crore) loan fee, the highest in their history, along with an obligation to buy for 65 million euros (Rs. 67.25 crore).
“In football, there can be a time when you want a change. I spoke to (sporting director) Max Eberl and the coach and they really wanted me to be here and they loved me. And as a player, you want to be there where people want you to be. There were tough times and difficult moments, but I was very confident I would stay here because here is where I want to play and want to be," Jackson said.
The obligation reportedly becomes necessary only if Jackson starts 40 games this season, which could be a stretch.
‘Jackson’s profile is a perfect fit’: Kompany
For now, manager Vincent Kompany is delighted to have Jackson’s ‘perfect’ skillset available to his team.
“This first phase is very important for him because he didn’t have a proper preparation at Chelsea," Kompany said at a press conference. “He’s a good athlete and it won’t take long for him to get back to 100 percent. We have to wait and see when he can play from the start. What I’ve seen so far is very good. He’s a young player with a lot of quality. He’ll pose a great threat with his speed and attacking drive. We’re always very flexible up front, and I think that’s a good thing. That’s why Nicolas Jackson’s profile makes him a perfect fit. That’s why he’ll play an important role next season."
