BBMP Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to fast-track key road and infrastructure projects in Yelahanka Zone, including the construction of a new road within the buffer zone of the stormwater drain (SWD) in Jakkur.

During his inspection of various locations in Yelahanka Zone on Tuesday, he emphasised that the area forms an important corridor connecting the international airport. Therefore, he instructed officials to initiate necessary steps to develop alternative link roads.

Mr. Rao reviewed ongoing works, including the construction of a 15m-wide SWD and road from Yelahanka Kogilu Junction to Jakkur Lake. He directed officials to study the feasibility of linking this stretch through the BWSSB sewage treatment plant near Jakkur Road and act accordingly.

Other instructions included reviving an old Kalyani (sacred pond) near Raitha Santhe, filling it with water, clearing garbage along roadsides, and developing the aeration walkway at Jakkur Lake.

Mr. Rao urged speedy completion of the 2.5 km white-topping work on Raithara Santhe Road, where only 500m has been completed. He pressed for immediate ramp construction for the ongoing railway overbridge near Jakkur.
