'Behaving like Pomeranian': BJP MLA compares woman cop to dog; FIR filed

DAVANAGERE: Police have registered an FIR against BJP MLA BP Harish for allegedly making insulting remarks against Davanagere superintendent of police Uma Prashanth, comparing her to a 'pomeranian dog' during a press conference.The MLA from Harihar on Tuesday accused the IPS officer of disrespecting him at official meetings and events. Following a complaint by the SP, a case was filed at KTJ Nagar police station under several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a senior officer said.MLA takes exception to SP's behaviour If you see the way the SP behaves - as an MLA if I go to a meeting - she does not acknowledge properly, but for those from the Shamanuru family (veteran Congress MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, his minister-son SS Mallikarjun and daughter-in-law and Congress MP Prabha Mallikarjun), she will wait for an hour near the gate, behaving like a Pomeranian dog at their house," Harish said.A case was filed at KTJ Nagar police station under sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult a woman's modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, a senior officer said.
