A trainee doctor in Uluberia, West Bengal, has alleged that a casual traffic home guard from the local police department threatened to rape her after an incident at a government hospital. Police have arrested the main accused along with two others in connection with the case. The trainee doctor remains deeply traumatised by the incident.

According to the doctor’s husband, who spoke exclusively with News18, the ordeal began when his wife was attending to a patient in severe labour pain. During the examination, the patient reportedly kicked the doctor. Despite the assault, she continued with her duty and began treatment.

Later, during visiting hours, a group of around 10 to 15 people confronted her. They allegedly threatened her, saying they would “deal with her" and even made horrifying rape threats if she stepped outside. “Yes, they said that," her husband confirmed when asked directly about the threats.

He further alleged that the main accused, identified as Babulal—a casual home guard with the police—grabbed his wife’s hand and twisted it. Babulal reportedly claimed to be a senior police officer and boasted that no one could touch him. He also claimed to have strong political connections.

When asked about security at the hospital, especially following the recent RG Kar Hospital incident, the husband said there was no proper security in place at the time. “Fortunately, her colleagues intervened and saved her," he said. “The police have now arrested the accused, but my wife is still in shock."

He added that the accused even made vulgar and demeaning threats, saying things like, “You use your mouth, we will use rods—and we know exactly where to use them on your body."

“No one should ever have to face what my wife has gone through," he concluded.
