Bengali cinema is set to shine at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, as two notable films have been officially selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section.
Reshmi Mitra’s Barobabu and Soukarya Ghosal’s Pokkhirajer Dim will both be showcased, highlighting the strength and diversity of contemporary Bengali storytelling.Barobabu is scheduled to screen at INOX – Audi II, Old GMC Building, Campal, Panjim, Goa, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 12:45 pm. Festival organizers have invited the filmmakers to attend, with travel and accommodation arrangements coordinated through official channels. Sujan, a key member of the Barobabu team, shared his excitement, saying, “I still can’t believe I am on cloud nine.”

Soukarya Ghosal, the director of Pokkhirajer Dim, will also be present at the festival, marking another proud moment for Bengali cinema. The selection of both films underscores the growing recognition of regional cinema on national and international platforms and brings wider visibility to their unique storytelling styles. The Indian Panorama section at IFFI is renowned for celebrating India’s finest films, and the inclusion of Barobabu and Pokkhirajer Dim reinforces the vibrancy and cultural depth of Bengali cinema on this prestigious stage.
