A young boy sustained a minor head injury after slamming into an overhead restricted beam while standing through the sunroof of a moving car, at Attur layout in Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru on Sunday (September 7, 2025).

Since the car was moving at a normal speed, the boy, who was traveling with his family, had a narrow escape with no fatal injuries.

Passers-by who noticed the incident recorded a video, which went viral on social media and drew criticism against the family’s negligence. Netizens criticised the parents for failing to notice the beam even as the boy’s head was peeking through the sunroof.

The injured boy was taken to a nearby hospital and discharged after medical care. The police warned the driver to be careful in the future and let him off.

It may be noted that the Bengaluru city traffic police have issued warnings against children using sunroofs in cars, flagging it not only as a safety hazard but also terming it as dangerous and a distraction to other motorists.
