Commissioners of newly formed Bengaluru city corporations carried out a series of inspections on Sunday to address flooding, waste management, and public hygiene issues in different parts of the city.
In the North City Corporation limits, Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar inspected flood-prone areas in Yelahanka, including Kogilu Cross Junction, and directed officials to implement both temporary and permanent solutions.
He reviewed stormwater drain works at Kogilu Circle and instructed the creation of proper drainage at Ramanashree California Garden and Puttenahalli Lake. He also emphasised solid waste management and maintaining public amenities, while urging pourakarmikas in Yelahanka Satellite Town to prioritise cleanliness.
Additional Commissioner Latha R. inspected the Dasarahalli zone, directing the clearance of black spots, debris removal along M.S. Ramaiah Layout Main Road, and the reopening of a closed public toilet at MEI Colony Ground. She also heard grievances from residents.
In the South zone, Commissioner K.N. Ramesh reviewed the Ejipura secondary waste transfer station, which processes 160–170 tonnes of waste daily from eight wards. The facility uses seven “capsule vehicles” and an automated segregation unit, reducing landfill burden through scientific disposal. Ramesh stressed the need for similar facilities across all wards.
Meanwhile, in the East zone, Commissioner Ramesh D.S. led a crackdown on unauthorised stalls encroaching footpaths in Bellandur, clearing them with earthmovers. He also fined a restaurant ₹25,000 for poor hygiene. Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar inspected stormwater drains and flood-prone areas in K.R. Puram, ordering desilting, road repairs, and new public toilets at Tin Factory.
Officials reiterated that such inspections would continue and warned of strict action against violators.
