A man in Bengaluru was left “furious and helpless" after his auto driver slowed down mid-ride to scroll through an actress’s Instagram profile, putting both time and safety at risk.

The passenger, an office-goer, shared his story in a Reddit post that has since gone viral, prompting many others to comment and share their own similar experiences.

In his post, the man shared that he had booked an auto via Uber, expecting a quick ten-minute ride to his office ahead of an important call. However, what should have been a routine commute soon turned into a frustrating and nerve-wracking experience.

As the man wrote on Reddit, the driver, after a quick glance at the map, minimised it and opened Instagram instead. “He immediately opened Instagram and started scrolling—while driving with one hand," the passenger recalled.

Matters escalated when the driver spotted a post by Telugu actor Sreeleela. Instead of continuing the journey, he slowed down in the middle of a busy road to open her profile and scroll through her feed.

“I was furious and felt completely helpless. The ride had just begun, and I could already feel the minutes slipping away," he stated.

Several Reddit users chimed in, expressing anger and disbelief. One remarked that slowing down in traffic to check a celebrity’s profile was “just reckless."

“That sounds so frustrating! 😣Slowing down in the middle of the road to check out a celebrity’s profile is just reckless," the comment read.

Another observed that pulling over abruptly without signaling and using a phone seemed common among auto drivers and scooter riders. “I’ve seen many auto walas just slow down and pull over suddenly to the road side, without any indicator, and I notice they’re always looking at their phone. It’s also a problem with guys on scootys as well. It’s so frustrating when you’re driving right behind them."

A third user said almost every driver seen on the road uses their phone while driving, adding that “only heavy traffic prevents too many accidents."

More strongly, one Redditor quipped that drivers had made “their cell phone more important an organ than their brains"

“I am not saying we should help them wanting so badly to explore afterlives but why not. Let them cell phone users behind the handlebar / steering wheel experience what they so badly deserve," the user adder.
