A 10-year-old girl was crushed to death when she slipped from a scooter and came under a moving BMTC bus on Kogilu Main Road at Yelahanka in Bengaluru on August 21.
This is the third fatal accident involving a BMTC bus in the last three days.
The deceased child, Tanvi Krishna, is a class 5 student. She was going to school on a scooter with her mother, Harshitha. They fell on the road when Harshitha lost control of the two-wheeler. While Harshita sustained minor injuries, Tanvi, who was riding pillion, came under the bus and was crushed to death.
The Yelahanka traffic police booked the BMTC driver for death due to negligence and for rash and negligent driving.
Two more cases
In another case, 64-year-old P. Sampangi was killed on August 20 when a BMTC electric bus ran over him while he tried to get into the bus at Jayanagar bus terminal.
Sampangi, a daily wage labourer at K.R. market, was going to work when he tried to board the bus. The driver allegedly closed the door and Sampangi lost his balance. He came under the wheels of the bus and was crushed to death.
On August 19 morning, a 37-year-old software engineer came under the wheels of a BMTC bus at Sanjay Nagar.
The victim, Roshan, was heading to a hotel for breakfast on a two-wheeler. When he tried to overtake a car from the right side near Vaibhav junction, he lost control and came under the moving bus.
The Sadashiva Nagar police have registered a case of death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against bus driver.
