The Pulakeshi Nagar Police on Friday arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly attempting to assault an autorickshaw driver and causing damage to his vehicle in a road-rage incident near Lingarajapuram flyover in the city on Friday. The accused has been identified as Sharath Shamsundar.
The accused allegedly tried to attack an autorickshaw driver using a knife. Although he was unsuccessful in attempt, he reportedly caused damage to the vehicle. The accused is a resident of Bagalur Layout and worked as a pourakarmika on a contract basis.
A passer-by recorded the incident on his mobile phone and uploaded it on social media which went viral. Following this, the Pulakeshi Nagar Police tracked down the accused with the help of local intelligence. Investigation revealed that the accused was a habitual offender, and was arrested earlier for planning a dacoity. The accused reportedly came out on bail and was on the run without attending court hearings.
