BENGALURU: A man was run over by an electric bus at the BMTC bus terminal in Jayanagar IV Block Wednesday morning.The deceased, 64-year-old P Sampangi of Jayanagar IX Block, a daily-wage worker at City Market, was trying to board the bus at 9am when the driver closed the doors without noticing him.
In the process, he lost balance, fell and was crushed under the wheels of the bus. Sampangi is survived by his wife and four children. "The BMTC bus was about to move when Sampangi ran to the door and stepped in. At the same moment, driver Madhwaraj closed the doors. As a result, Sampangi fell and came under the left rear wheels, dying on the spot," Jayanagar traffic police said.
Police have booked bus driver, Madhwaraj BG, from IV depot, Jayanagar.
