Bengaluru stampede: Injured Bilal got separated from friends, 18 injured as barricades collapse

BENGALURU: Bilal was among the 18 brought into Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospitals in Shivajinagar, 2km from Chinnaswamy Stadium.His mother Farheen recalled Bilal going to the stadium with his friends.

"He sought permission, and I told him to watch from afar. His friends were fine, but Bilal was separated from them.

He does not remember where he got separated, near Vidhana Soudha or the stadium. He is in shock."When Bilal gained consciousness, he managed to share his mother's phone number with the hospital authorities, who contacted Farheen. Dr T Kemparaju, medical superintendent of Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital, told TOI: "The injured said there were only two to three gates that were opened at the stadium. When there was a sudden rush, the barricades outside crashed on the people, even as others walked or ran over those, causing many to sustain fractures.
