Bengaluru students drown in cauvery river near Srirangapatna

MANDYA: In a tragic incident at Balmuri near Srirangapatna, two final-year BBA students from Bengaluru drowned while swimming in the Cauvery River on Friday.The victims were identified as William Sam (21) and Venkatesh (21), both residents of K.R.

Puram, Bengaluru. They came to Srirangapatna along with five friends on a leisure trip.According to police, while swimming near Edamuri, the duo accidentally ventured into deep waters. As they were unable to swim, they drowned before help could reach them. Their friends immediately alerted KRS Police, following which Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.The bodies were shifted to KR Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to the families.Family members were inconsolable.A case was registered at the KRS Police Station.
