The three-day Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference will begin here on Thursday with an inaugural ceremony scheduled at the Vidhana Soudha. This is the first time Bengaluru is hosting the event.
Issues such as debates and discussions, as well as strengthening the public’s confidence in the legislature, will be part of the deliberations.
“Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birala will chair the CPA Executive Committee in the Conference Hall at Vidhana Soudha, marking the commencement of the event. The event will be inaugurated on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha in a grand function,” Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader told the media here on Wednesday.
Former Speakers and Chairpersons of the Karnataka Legislature have been invited to the event, which is being organised under the guidance of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will release a commemorative stamp on the occasion. Former Legislature Secretaries will be felicitated on the occasion,” said Mr. Khader.
Among those likely to participate are Stephen Twigg, CPA General Secretary. Delegates will be presented with kits curated with Mysuru sandalwood products, traditional saris for women and iPads, he said.
