Betel oil-based mosquito repellent vaporiser wins at convention

Bhubaneswar: Research by PhD students from Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, on the development of a betel oil-based mosquito repellent vaporiser won the second runners-up medal in the agricultural and allied sciences category of ‘Anveshan-2025’, the east zone Inter-University Research Convention organised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.The Assam Royal Global University, Guwahati, a private university, was the winner in the agriculture category. Altogether six research scholars from Fakir Mohan University took part in the two-day event, which ended on Wednesday.Sunil Kumar Gochhi and Sanjit Kumar Sahu clinched the medal for their project titled ‘Development of Betel Oil-Based Mosquito Repellent Vaporizer as a value-added product for rural livelihood and sustainable health protection.’

FM University vice-chancellor Santosh Kumar Tripathy lauded the scholars for their outstanding performance and emphasised the university’s commitment in nurturing innovation-driven research that contributes to societal development and national progress. The FMU contingent showcased innovative research projects across four major disciplines — agricultural and allied sciences, health and allied sciences, basic sciences, and inter-disciplinary research.
