Purnima Shradh 2025: Puja Rituals

Prior to beginning rituals, get up early and take a bath. They welcome Brahmins to their homes after cleaning and preparing Sattvik food. The eldest male member of the family performs Pitru Tarpan, they offer the food, clothing, and dakshina to the priest or Brahmin.

They have to touch his feet to receive his blessings. Since feeding cows, dogs, and crows is believed to be very satisfying, people should do it. People travel to Ganga Ghats to perform these rites because Pitru Tarpan, which is performed close to the Ghat, is considered highly meritorious.Special Note: One should keep this in mind that this Shradh Paksha is starting with this Purnima and Chandra Grahan is also going to occur so people are advised not to observe Purnima fast on this day and avoid performing any puja rituals as Sutak period will start from 12:57 PM.
