Maharashtra and Goa both celebrate the Bhau Beej festival. Bhau is the Marathi word for brothers. Sisters observe a fast on this auspicious day, apply tilak to their brother's forehead, give him food, and then break the fast.After applying tilak to their brothers' foreheads, sisters in the Uttar Pradesh states present them with a dried coconut.The celebration is known as Bhai Tihar in Nepal. The Tilak ceremony is performed by sisters, and Tihar denotes Tilak.

1. Get up early in the morning and taake a holy bath then get dressed in traditional attire.2. This ritual is performed for Ladoo Gopal Ji and Lord Ganesha.3. Sisters cook various dishes, sweets, and savory treats for their brothers.4. If they both are unmarried, the festival is celebrated at their home; otherwise, the sister either comes to see her brother or the brother goes to his sister's house.5. The sister uses roli, akshat (unbroken rice), dried coconut, sweets, and keep all of that in a decorated plate then apply tilak on their forehead.6. Place akshat (unbroken rice) after tilak. Give your brother a dried coconut with tilak on it as well, and wish him a long and healthy life.7. In exchange, brothers touch their sisters' feet and ask for blessings.8. As a sign of love and respect, brothers also give their sisters money or a present of their choosing.9. Sisters make this celebration more special by offering food to their brothers.10. They break their fast and consume Sattvik food after finishing all the rites.
