Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath said B and C camps in the heart of Kurnool city are best suitable for a High Court bench.
Mr. Bharath, who was reviewing the development works in the Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) limits, said he had put the proposal before Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during their recent foreign visit. Mr. Naidu had recently visited the U.A.E. to attract investors to the State and Mr. Bharath was part of the delegation.
Mr. Bharath said the government is keen on developing Kurnool and is in favour of setting up a High Court bench in the city. He said that 160 acres of land is available in the B and C camp area. He said the value of an acre of land in the area is around ₹100 crore and the land can be used effectively for the development of the city. Mr. Bharath further said the B and C camp lands can also be allocated for Smart City projects.
The State government had earlier identified land and buildings, including the vacant government land at Jagannathagattu on the outskirts of the city, for the High Court bench. There was a proposal to evict the people living in B and C camps.
