KHAMMAM
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday slammed BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his reported ‘we will skin’ remarks against the Congress government, saying that the latter was speaking in a ‘derogatory manner’.
He was addressing a public meeting at Pinapaka village in Thallada mandal of Khammam district.
Earlier in the day, he laid foundation stones for three new electricity substations.
Reacting sharply to Mr. Rao’s remarks against the Congress dispensation, he said that people of the State have reposed their faith in the party by electing Congress-backed candidates in 85% of the total seats in the recent Gram Panchayat polls. This is because of the Congress government’s welfare schemes rendering concrete benefits to all sections of people, he added.
Instead of appreciating the welfare programmes, KCR chose to speak about ‘skinning’, which is completely inappropriate on his part, Mr Vikramarka said.
He said, “Congress does not stoop to such language. Through public welfare programmes, the BRS leaders will be taught a lesson.”
Mr Vikramarka questioned why KCR, the leader of the Opposition, did not attend the Assembly even for a single day in the last two years. Why is KCR so afraid of the Assembly? he asked.
“A person who does not come to the Assembly, does he even deserve the post of Leader of the Opposition,” he said.
He said, “Telangana is rising, and leaders from across the country and big industrialists are coming to the State and praising the government. Unable to digest this, KCR came out after two years, made baseless allegations against the State government and then went back to his farmhouse.”
“It is ultimately the people who will teach him a lesson,” he added.
Later, he inaugurated the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)’s GM’s office in Sathupalli and also inspected the JVR opencast project-II.
He said that SCCL will participate in a joint venture with the Rajasthan government for the production of 1,500 MW of solar power. The SCCL is expanding on multiple fronts apart from its core coal production to thermal power, solar power, pumped storage, rare earth minerals and critical minerals.
Congratulating the Singarenians on the occasion of Singareni Foundation Day, he said, “The State government, through SCCL, is formulating plans to compete for and secure blocks for lithium, graphite and copper as well. The State government is striving to ensure that SCCL, with its 136-year-old legacy, grows into a global enterprise.”
He said, “Global tenders were floated and expert advice was taken on which countries and states Singareni could enter, and on steps needed to ensure a bright future for Telangana. The SCCL has become a partner by securing tenders for gold and copper mining in Karnataka.”
