BHOPAL: Four members of a family, including a couple and their two children, were washed away along with their car while crossing a culvert as the nullah below it was overflowing in Anuppur district.The car was found on Monday morning at a distance of around half a kilometre from the spot.The incident took place near Odera village at a culvert over Sajha nullah late on Sunday night. The body of the woman was found late in the night itself, and the other bodies were found at a distance of several kilometres.The deceased have been identified as Chandra Shekhar Yadav, 39, Priti Yadav, 35, and their children Riyansh, 4, and Shivi, 2, all residents of Kotma in Anuppur district.The family went to visit Amarkantak and was returning home in their vehicle with registration number MP 65 C 1047 when the accident took place.“It was around 7 pm on Sunday evening that they tried to cross the nullah as it was overflowing a culvert near Odera village when their vehicle got washed away. Prior to them, another car also tried to cross the nullah and it got stuck; however, it managed to cross. Had they kept some restraint and avoided crossing it, the accident could have been averted,” SP Anuppur, Moti Ur Rehman, told TOI.
He added, “The body of the woman was found in the night itself. The bodies of the other three, including the two kids, were found on Monday. The car was found at a distance of half a kilometre. The remaining bodies were found several kilometres away.”
