Adhila and Noora, Bigg Boss Malayalam's first lesbian couple, faced emotional distress after a comment allegedly made by Akbar Khan's mother during a phone call. The remark, advising Akbar to limit nighttime interactions with the couple, left Noora and Adhila feeling judged and alienated, stirring up past experiences of rejection and questioning acceptance from other contestants' families.
Adhila and Noora, the first openly lesbian couple in Bigg Boss Malayalam history, have made headlines for their bold presence and openness inside the house. While they have largely been welcomed with warmth by fellow contestants and viewers, a recent incident has left the duo emotionally shattered. In the latest weekend episode, an emotional conversation unfolded between Noora and Adhila, following a comment reportedly made by fellow contestant Akbar Khan’s mother. Noora, visibly distressed, shared the emotional toll the remark had on her."I went emotionally down when I heard that comment from Akbar's mother. I just died then and there. I wasn't expecting hatred from someone, whom we know personally. Our sexuality or identity is an issue for someone, despite it not affecting them in any way.
What can we do? Now, I wonder whether the families of other contestants also feel the same way," said Noora, holding back tears.
Adhila, who was also tearful, tried to comfort her partner. "Even our parents didn't understand us, then how will other's parents? Hatred isn't new to us, but getting it from people whom we thought of as family is hurtful. You don’t deserve these tears," she said. The incident appears to have stemmed from a conversation Akbar Khan had with his mother during a call facilitated by the show. Though the exact words were not broadcast, it is alleged that Akbar’s mother advised him not to sit with Adhila and Noora too much during nighttime. The comment has reportedly disturbed the couple, who felt judged and alienated. The call was arranged after Akbar was reprimanded by host Mohanlal for using foul language in the house.
