“Yes, I paid ₹50,000 as advance, will pay the rest”

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 winner Anumol faced controversy over alleged hefty PR spending. She admitted to hiring a PR team but denied spending ₹16 lakh, clarifying she opted for a ₹1 lakh package. The accusations stemmed from a house task where fellow contestant Binny Sebastian accused her of significant PR investment.

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 concluded on November 9, with TV actress Anumol lifting the coveted trophy. The grand finale, hosted by superstar Mohanlal, saw Anumol walk away with a cash prize of ₹42.5 lakh, a brand-new SUV, and the winner’s title.

However, soon after her win, Anumol found herself at the center of controversy following allegations that she spent a huge amount on PR to secure the victory.During her post-win interviews, Anumol addressed the accusations head-on. She admitted that she had indeed hired a PR team during her stint on the show, but strongly denied claims of spending ₹16 lakh on publicity. “People are saying I won this title by spending ₹16 lakh on PR, that’s not true.

I don’t have that kind of money,” she clarified.

The actor explained that she decided to hire a PR agency after learning that most contestants used professional promotional support while inside the Bigg Boss house. “I got in touch with a PR person, and they quoted ₹15 lakh. But I didn’t go with them and chose the ₹1 lakh option instead. I paid ₹50,000 before the show and will pay the rest now that I’ve won the title,” Anumol revealed.

She added, “I have no issue admitting to PR assistance, like every other contestant. But if I had ₹15 or ₹16 lakh to pay PR, I wouldn’t even participate in this show.”The controversy traces back to an incident in the Bigg Boss house when fellow contestant Binny Sebastian accused Anumol of spending heavily on PR during a task. The task required housemates to name one contestant who was surviving on PR support. Anumol received the most votes, and Binny alleged that Anumol herself had admitted to paying ₹16 lakh to her PR team, ₹50,000 in advance, and the rest after the show.

The accusation left the housemates and viewers stunned. The topic of paid PR campaigns became one of the most discussed issues both inside the Bigg Boss house and among fans on social media. While some viewers criticized contestants for using paid promotions, others argued that it had become a common part of reality TV strategy.
