Apple has streamlined the versioning of its operating systems, moving away from sequential numbers to a year-based naming convention. iPhone: New looks for the Camera, Safari, and Phone apps
Phone App: A new layout consolidates favorites, Recents, and Voicemails into a single panel, with calls, contacts, and keypad accessible at the bottom. These changes enhance functionality while maintaining a clean, intuitive design.
iPad: Advanced Multitasking and Mac-like Features
iPadOS 26 introduces powerful multitasking capabilities and a more desktop-like experience. This includes improved windowing: Users can resize and reposition app windows, open multiple windows simultaneously, and manage layouts more flexibly. For those using their iPad as laptops, there's a more precise mouse pointer to improve navigation and control. There's also a Menu Bar. This means Swiping down on an app reveals a Mac-inspired menu bar with additional options and commands.
Apple Watch: New Gestures and AI features
watchOS 26 enhances the Apple Watch experience with Wrist Flick Gesture. This is a new motion to dismiss notifications quickly and intuitively. There's also Workout Buddy, which is an AI-powered feature that delivers personalized workout advice and motivational prompts based on user activity.
AirPods: Take picture with your Airpods
Apple also announced updates for AirPods. This includes camera control, this means that users can tap the stem of AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, or AirPods Pro 2 to take photos or videos on their iPhone or iPad.
