The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at six locations linked to Pawan Kumar, an Executive Engineer and Director-level officer in the Building Construction Department, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

According to an official press release issued by the EOU, a verification based on credible inputs revealed that Kumar had allegedly amassed assets worth Rs 3.89 crore beyond his known sources of income. Investigators estimated the assets to be nearly 103.94 per cent higher than his legitimate earnings.

Following the findings, the EOU registered a case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and obtained search warrants from the Special Vigilance Court in Patna.

The search operations began on Tuesday morning and are being carried out under the supervision of senior police officers. Raids are underway at six premises associated with Kumar, including his flat at Yugal Niwas Apartment in Sri Krishna Puri, Patna, his office premises, a house in the Tilkamanjhi area of Bhagalpur, two residential properties in Noida, and a flat in Sector 10 of Dwarka, New Delhi.

EOU officials said they would share detailed information about the assets recovered and documents seized after completing the search operations.

According to information from the ongoing raids, EOU teams searched flat no 305 at Yugal Niwas Apartment in Patna, where Kumar resides. Officials reportedly recovered several important documents, including land papers and jewellery, during the search.

Investigators have also found details of land worth crores of rupees allegedly purchased by Kumar along the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur highway. Sources said the EOU is likely to release further details regarding the property after the verification process.

Apart from Patna, EOU teams are conducting searches at multiple locations in Delhi-NCR. A search operation is also underway at Kumar's flat in Dwarka Sector 10 in New Delhi.

Officials said the EOU had been gathering information for some time after receiving inputs that Kumar had accumulated assets worth more than 3.89 crore disproportionate to his known income. The agency is currently questioning Kumar as part of the investigation.
