BJP tears into RJD after child’s viral ‘katta' video at rally; party says 'jungle raj' mindset exposed

A video from Tejashwi Yadav's rally, showing a child glorifying gun culture, has ignited a major controversy in Bihar just before the assembly polls.

PATNA: A major controversy erupted in Bihar ahead of the first phase of the assembly polls after a video from RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav’s rally in Samastipur district showed a young boy reportedly making remarks that appeared to glorify gun culture. The video, reportedly from Mohiuddinnagar constituency, shows the child saying that if “Tejashwi bhaiya” returns to power, he will roam around carrying a katta (country-made gun). The clip quickly went viral on social media, prompting sharp criticism from the BJP, which accused the RJD of normalising violence and reviving memories of Bihar’s so-called “jungle raj.”The BJP shared the video on its official X handle with the caption:“RJD’s education model! Every child from their school learns ‘K for Katta’.

Violence and RJD are so intertwined that even a small child knows — if RJD returns to power, the business of guns and extortion will return too.”

The RJD is yet to comment on the controversy. The row comes at a politically sensitive time — just a day ahead the first phase of voting in the 2025 Bihar Assembly election, which will be held on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.The election pits the ruling National Democratic Alliance (BJP, JD(U), LJP-RV, HAM-S, and RLM) against the Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD along with Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and VIP.(With agency inputs)
