Bihar polls: RJD candidate Khesari Lal Yadav vows to improve Chapra's drain system if elected
NEW DELHI: Bihar deputy chief minister and BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary on Wednesday called Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav a “dancer,” and claimed that the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) gave Yadav the ticket for the Chapra assembly constituency because the party had no other candidate to field. The remark came while Chaudhary was campaigning for his party’s candidate, Chhoti Kumari.“They have sent Khesari Lal here as all their previous candidates lost… CN Gupta defeated them,” Chaudhary said, referring to the sitting BJP MLA, who won the seat in both the 2015 and 2020 Bihar assembly polls, defeating RJD’s Randhir Kumar Singh. The deputy CM, himself a former RJD leader, added: “With no candidate left, this dancer has been sent here.
Please vote for our sister Chhoti Kumari if you want 'sushasan' (good governance) in Bihar. This is not (RJD chief and ex-CM) Lalu Prasad Yadav's Bihar that was infamous for lawlessness. Today, people can go from here to Patna even at midnight, and it is my guarantee that no one can harm you.”
The Chapra assembly seat falls in Bihar’s Saran district. This will be the maiden election for Khesari Lal Yadav, 39, whose real name is Shatrughan Kumar Yadav. Of the 243 seats in the Bihar assembly, 121 will go to polls in the first phase on November 6, with the remaining seats voting on November 11. Vote counting is scheduled for November 14.
