Bhagalpur: Former Jharkhand CM and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das accused the RJD-Congress alliance of pushing Bihar into an era of “nepotism, crime and corruption” during the Lalu-Rabri regime between 1990 and 2005.
He said the period was marked by “murders, kidnappings and rampant lawlessness” under what he described as “jungle raj”.Addressing an election meeting in Bhagalpur on Saturday to seek support for BJP candidate Rohit Pandey and other NDA nominees from Bhagalpur and Banka districts, Das said, “After a long struggle, the people of Bihar removed the demonic forces in the 2005 assembly elections and brought in the ‘sushashan’ (good governance) govt under CM Nitish Kumar, ending the jungle raj.”He credited the Nitish Kumar-led NDA govt for “tremendous developmental work” and women empowerment, constructing “marvellous roads and bridges”, controlling crime through fast-track courts, and ensuring a “rule of law” in Bihar.“The double-engine govt of PM Narendra Modi at the Centre and CM Nitish Kumar in Bihar will again be voted to power with a clear majority,” Das said, expressing confidence that “intelligent voters” would back the NDA’s development agenda.
He lauded Nitish’s efforts for youth employment, women empowerment, and schemes benefitting OBCs, EBCs, and other communities, adding that these initiatives had created “an environment of social harmony”.Claiming that the NDA performed strongly in the first phase of polling on Nov 6, Das said, “We will win more than 80 seats as voters are satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Nitish’s development work.”
